Ingredients Needed

- 3.5 cups water

- 1 egg yolk
How to Make Şekerpare
- First, prepare the syrup. Boil the sugar and water in a pot.
- After it starts boiling, add the lemon juice and boil for another 10 minutes.
- Remove the syrup from the heat and let it cool.
- For the dough, mix the butter, vegetable oil, powdered sugar, and egg in a bowl.
- Add the semolina, baking powder, and vanillin.
- Gradually add the flour and knead into a soft dough.
- Pinch off walnut-sized pieces of dough, roll them into balls, and flatten slightly.
- Place a hazelnut or almond on top and press lightly.
- Arrange the Semolina Cookies on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
- Brush the tops with egg yolk.
- Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven until golden, about 25 minutes.
